If this is true, then that makes the futility and collateral damage of the drug war even worse. The NSA spying is a threat to the American people but the drug war is worse in terms of the lives of everyday Americans impacted. More…

A new documentary reveals that six investigators of the flight 800 catastrophe in 1996, including a supervisor, now say the conclusion of the investigation was falsified by the NTSB and the FBI. This is not surprising, as there were numerous eye witnesses at the time who said they thought they saw a missile hit the plane. Was this the second case of terrorism that was buried in the 1990′s with OK city being the other? More…

Rand Paul is seeking desperately to escape the pigeon hole that the media had put on his father, as a fringe crackpot. Although Paul’s ideas are similar to his fathers he is seeking to avoid the outright warfare that his father waged against the regular GOP, and is instead working to reshape, at least a portion of the party, into his own image. Paul has been gifted with scandals and issues that are right in his wheelhouse lately, like the drone bombings and the spying revelations. We’ll see if rand Paul can Garner enough support that the GOP can’t laugh him off as they did his dad. Read More…

After 8 years in prison Nicole Smith, who was released in February, will not be re-tried in the 2005 death of her 4 year old son according to Cook County prosecutors. The only evidence in the case was the coerced confession Smith made after a 27 hour interrogation. Her other son, who was 5 at the time, was kept from testifying at trial that his brothers death was an accident that he witnessed. Read More…

If you are familiar with the evolution of NBA refereeing over the years you know that these supposed guardians of the integrity of the game are more like carnival workers making sure the best interests of the NBA carnival, and…

If you are familiar with the evolution of NBA refereeing over the years you know that these supposed guardians of the integrity of the game are more like carnival workers making sure the best interests of the NBA carnival, and its owners, are served. This is more than conjecture as former NBA ref Tim Donaghy can tell you.

How does this relate to the IRS? Well lets look. Take a typical series in the NBA playoffs, everyone knows that for maximum enjoyment and maximum profits a 7 game series is best for all concerned. Also home teams winning is what brings the fans back. Therefore refs in the NBA favor home teams in their refereeing in the playoffs. There was often famously lopsided playoff game refereeing, in the 1990′s, between the Chicago Bulls and the New York Knicks, who would trade home victories in many a 7 game playoff series. Chicago’s coach Phil Jackson often complained (and was often fined) about the refs in these series. Nobody had to tell the refs what was in the best interest of the NBA. There would never be any smoking gun memo or e-mail with a detailed plan from the NBA brass telling the refs what to do, it was obvious what to do.

The same holds for the IRS. There will never be any smoking gun memo or e-mail that links IRS harassment of conservative groups directly to the White House. For the middle level employees at the IRS, it was obvious what the best interests of the White House were in dealing with tax exempt 501(c)(4) applications prior to the 2012 election. These IRS employees know what will benefit and make their employer happy, just as the NBA refs do. It made for easy calls.

There is a major problem with this analogy. In one case you are messing with the integrity of a game, and in the other you are messing with integrity of the rule of law that makes our country function fairly in service to its people. In this respect the comparison between what the NBA does and what the IRS did could not be more glaringly different.

Lets see, The Department of Health and Human Services is going to have access to your private health records to assure that Obamacare is being implemented properly. And the IRS is going to help HHS with enforcement of Obamacare regulations. What could go wrong? Will mysterious low level bureaucrats be handling your request for medical procedures based on your membership in Patriot Groups? Joking aside, it looks like your personal records will be widely accessible under Obamacare. More…

An interesting research piece from Pew shows that the pro-gay marriage message is being carried in the media, in stories and opinion pieces, at a rate of 5-1 over stories that expressed opposition to same sex marriage. This is not an endorsement or repudiation of gay marriage just an observation of whose message the media is carrying in an issue that is about 52/48 in opinion polls. More…

Former president Bill Clinton said last week that President Obama risks looking like a fool and a wuss if he doesn’t follow through with some action on Syria. Where are we behind the gym at recess. No doubt that Obama has seen the dismal polling numbers on Americans taste for another military operation. Bill was the original “poll driven ” president. Lets hope Obama acts like Bill but doesn’t listen to him. More…

in an exchange before congress FBI director Mueller had no who is heading his departments investigation of the IRS. “Welcome to fundamental transformation — where progressive politicians run wild, loot the treasury, spy on citizens and target them for retribution. Investigations are a ruse, trials are for show, media outrage is feigned to intimidate the opposition, and people who should be trusted public officials are political hacks. The American people expect a real investigation and actual accountability — not BS games and endless spin.” More…
