As i was riding into work today I was listening to the local CBS news radio station when a report about rising gasoline prices came on. The story proceeded to explain that there are many cyclical and geopolitical factors that go into gasoline prices. They went on to say that president Obama claims that he is not to blame in light of these factors and that are out of his control. I tend to agree with this broadcast in thinking Obama is not completely to blame for higher gasoline prices. What is bothersome, is I can recall the very same radio station doing reports on the gasoline prices in the Bush era. Those reports were along the lines of… “President Bush has his back against the wall as he tries to defend himself over the rising price of gasoline, consumers are concerned about higher price and damage to the economy and want some answers.” These are two very different slants on the same issue. A media group has traced the number of news stories in 2008 when gas prices were rising under Bush and has found that 4 times the number of gasoline related stories were generated during the Bush era in the media than are being put out today.
